In 1997, Richard Carlson wrote a phenomenal best-selling book entitled “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff.” I think that slogan is perfect for dealing with other people and things that happen to us. But when you look within and introspecitively at your own self, I think the opposite rule should be applied…
It’s not always the big stuff we need to worry about.
Sometimes it’s the little things that bring the most frustration to others or turn into the biggest issues within ourselves.
Little things are often more irritating to others because they “should have been taken care of”. Little problems seem to be caused by selfishness, irresponsibility, or negligence. Big problems are clearly a mistake, thus can receive more mercy and forgivness.
Big problems seem to have have clear causes.
Little things are often attributed to habits or character flaws. Big things cannot be ignored by us, or by others. Little things can be covered up easily.
When little things, like cavities, are hidden and ignored, they infect all that surrounds them until them becomes a big problems with bigger consequences.
