This verse has a ‘dying empty’ type of ring to it… In that, with reflecting on the finiteness of our lives, we would then live a different today; making wiser decisions.
Wisdom, as I mentioned last week is to me, making decisions with discipline. It has the ability to gauge the present and future, seen and unseen.
So how do we get wisdom?
From this verse I see about 3 ways:
In applying our hearts, I see that wisdom doesn’t reside in the head, but is a matter of the heart. My ability to move with wisdom will come from how developed my intuition and discernment is.
In number our days, I see, we need to realize there is a limitation on our life. But with that perspective we can better take into consideration the effects of our actions, both near and far.
And lastly, there are two little words, teach us. This reveals the humility and dependence we need. The writer is talking or praying these words. We need help from God to have a heart and perspective for true wisdom.
