The Dream and the Assignment

He said his dream was the ability to move the heart of God, but his assignment was the work/ministry/public platform people knew him for.

And thus no matter how famous he was or how unknown, that didn’t affect his dream, his value or how he defined success.

The beauty of this perspective is the freedom it gives during the ups and downs that our work is guaranteed to bring.

I have always taken the assignment God gave and turned it into my dream. I’d hold onto it, become jealous about bringing it to completion. And from that place of control it things haven’t really moved much.

When delays happen and setbacks occur, the way we respond shows whether or not our identity is tied into what we do, or who we are.
