The Monday Morning Devo for January 26, 2015.
What if what we presently possess is infinitely greater than anything we could ever hope to gain?
As a Christian, what if your status in Christ today is truly better than fulfilling your potential?
What if simply having the Holy Spirit whispering ‘Abba Father – God is your daddy.” can bring you more joy more peace than being moving in the power of the Spirit’s gifts — healing sickness, cancer, disease or paralysis?
What if having your heart fully convinced that you are seated in heavenly places is of greater significance than seeing the prophetic destiny of a stranger, diagnosing their childhood pains or even helping to heal those emotional baggage.
This morning, I am wondering, if the treasures we presently possess ie. salvation 101, is already greater than any potential experience we could ever have.
Now, I’m not discounting what God may call a man or woman to do. I’m not negating that work or the ministry of loving the world or working out our own salvation.
But I sense that if we knew what we already have is eternally more significant that anything else we could ever achieve or do, it may change how we live.
Perhaps many of us are longing for lesser things and we label our current positions falsely as insignificant.
All of our potential and future purpose is really about obedience to God’s will, not about being special or seeking to be valuable for our own sake.
We’ve already special.
You are already valued.
You cannot obtain a treasure greater than that which was already purchased by the blood of God’s son.
You can respond, serve and faithfully share — but our doings never exceed what we’ve already received in Christ.
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father I pray, that if the words that I’ve shared today contain your truth, let the hearer receive freedom from striving and seeking to obtain treasures that are less significant that what they already have. Allow your people to serve you only out of love and gratitude in response to the overflow of what they have in Christ Jesus. Amen.
