56 Years to Die Empty #ThankYouSteve

In the wake of death I am always compelled to live fully.

“It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.”

Many people acknowledge that time is our most precious commodity, but how many of us live like tomorrow is not guaranteed?

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”

We act as if wise and successful living is cramming the greatest number of tasks into our day.

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Today I encourage you to look neither to your past nor your future. To not compare you life to others nor worry about who you will become.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Whether you live for 30 years, 99 or 56 – your dying empty might simply be giving yourself fully, everyday of your life to the one thing; without compromise nor regret.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life /// Stay hungry, stay foolish /// If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t’ settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better as the years roll on. /// We don’t get a chance to do many things, and every one should be really excellent. Because this is our life. /// Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.”
